INVEST'ELEC PROJECT

The Invest’Elec project is an initiative that aims to promote private investment in the Cameroonian rural electrification sub-sector.

Duration of the action: 36 months.

Objectifs de l’action

- Overall objective: Promote private investments in the Cameroonian electricity sector.

- Specific objectives :

- Strengthen the capacities of SMEs, with a view to investments in renewable energies and rural electrification;

- Promote Dialogue and Public-Private Partnership;

- Include the promotion of private investments over time.

Partners

- Applicant: ARSEL;

- Cameroonian Federation of Water, Electricity and Electronics Companies (FECAME);

- Engineering Development Studies (EED)

Targets: The private sector, national and foreign, including nearly 1000 national SMEs / SMIs, which can intervene throughout the project cycle, and which are particularly expected as operators or service providers, supplier / installers of equipment, etc. 

Final beneficiaries

- The private sector above;

- Electricity consumers, particularly in rural areas, who will benefit from improved access and quality of service if the energy supply market develops accordingly.

Expected results

- Information, awareness and training, B2B: at least 100 Cameroonian SMEs benefit from information and training seminars on investment opportunities in rural electrification and renewable energies; at least 10 SMEs participate in study tours; at least 250 Cameroonian SMEs participate in the 2012 International B2B Invest’Elec Fair in Yaoundé;

- Public-Private Dialogue: at least 3 Intermediary Organizations and 100 SMEs participate in workshops / debates on barriers to SME participation;

- Capitalization: at least 5,000 copies of an ISE Guide are distributed by ARSEL and through at least 3 intermediary organizations; an Invest’Elec Private Investment Promotion Unit is created within ARSEL, and the Invest’Elec Fair is institutionalized.
