The Electricity Tower (Tourel) will be the symbol and the reflection of the potential, even the power of Cameroon in terms of electricity. It will be the work of the Cameroonian government through the Electricity Sector Regulatory Agency (ARSEL), the Rural Electrification Agency (AER) and Electricity Development Corporation (EDC). These three institutions had signed a letter of intent to this effect in September 2010. The site which will host this important complex, a space of nearly 6000 m2, has already been chosen: it will be in the very center of the political capital of Cameroon. , on the plateau of the Yaoundé central hospital. It will be a futuristic complex that will dominate the boulevard du 20 mai. Its achievement will have to fundamentally change and improve the face of the Cameroonian capital.

The Electricity Tower will be a multifunctional business real estate complex that will integrate a building of about 30 or more storeys, with the option of secondary buildings, the number and sizes of which are yet to be determined. Functionally, the Tourel will house, in addition to offices for ARSEL services, those of AER and EDC, spaces for other administrations and private companies, banks, insurance companies, a restaurant with a view. panoramic view, a level of observation of the city at the top of the Tower, shops, a large underground "mall" on several levels and even a large underground shopping mall, medical offices, gyms and collective sports halls, massage and sona rooms, underground parking lots. In total, the complex will cover more than 40,000 m2 of built-up area.

La Tourel will be a revolutionary structure both from the point of view of its architecture, its functionalities and its amenities: comfortable use of green spaces and VRD with garden lamps and water jets, use of photovoltaic solar energy for emergency lighting needs and even for basic needs, etc. A clear option in favor of environmental protection. For the realization of such a work, its promoters call on public-private partnerships. This is the reason why an international public call for expressions of interest is launched today. Investors of all kinds, banks, insurance companies, and other organizations are invited to invest in the implementation of this important project. Everyone will have to make their contribution to the design and shape to be given to the Tourel.

For the Cameroonian government, the Tourel should arouse the interest of investors. By constructing this edifice, the electricity sector is not only exhibiting its desire to bring light, but also its ambition to reflect Cameroon's dream of emergence.
