National Energy Efficiency Policy, Strategy and Action Plan in the electricity sector in Cameroon (annex 2)

The Government of Cameroon recognises the multiple benefits that could result from defining and implementing a national energy efficiency policy, notably:

- Improving the reliability of power supply to the nation, by reducing consumption below the available generation capacity, while maintaining the same level of service to users ;
- Stimulating economic growth, by reducing the energy expenditures of business ;
- Improving the standard of living of Cameroon families, by helping them reduce their energy bills.

This report is part of a process to develop the National Energy Efficiency Policy. Specifically, it outlines three scenarios for energy consumption, based on different levels of ambition in public action to encourage or require higher efficiency in the use of electricity. In addition, the report also highlights the measures which should be taken by the electricity utility in order to improve EE at the generation, transport and distribution level.
